Injury and accident FAQs
Am I eligible to make an accident claim in the UK?
Generally speaking, you should be able to claim if:
- your accident happened in the last three years
- the accident was somebody else’s fault
- you sustained an injury or illness as a result
But every case is different. And the best option is to contact our specialists for a quick consultation. We’re a friendly team and it’s a free service. Having listened to your circumstances, we can advise both on your eligibility to make an accident claim and your prospects of winning the case.
Children under 18 are not legally allowed to claim. However, a parent or ‘litigation friend’ can be appointed on their behalf and any compensation will be held in a trust until their 18th birthday.
How long after the accident can I make a claim?
Accident claims in the UK are time-barred. That means, in most circumstances, you (or your legal representation) will need to start proceedings within three years of the injury or accident. If you don’t begin the process within this time limit, your eligibility to claim will, unfortunately, be lost.
There are some situations in which this timeframe can be extended. These situations are rare. But if you think you may have grounds to start a claim after three years, be sure to seek accident claims advice.
How much compensation can I get for an accident claim?
The amount of compensation you can receive for your accident claim will depend on many factors. These include the type and severity of your injury, the pain and suffering experienced, the circumstances under which your accident occurred, and how the injury has impacted your life – including both your personal family life and your ability to return to work and earn a living.
But rest assured, our accident claim lawyers have significant experience in this area. They will accurately value your claim and secure the exact level of compensation that you deserve.
